RJA #11a: Introduction
The death penalty is considered to be one of the most controversial issues when it refers to punishment. The death penalty has many pros and cons about justice but it may not be just to everyone. There are many people who believe that the death penalty should be used when it comes to capital punishment. There are some people who believe that the death penalty is a cruel and unusual method and should be abolished completely when it comes to punishment.

RJA #10b: Argument
Precise claim:
The death penalty gives justice to those who have done wrong, but can violate their rights and hurt their loved ones which is unjust.
Reason 1- The death penalty shows justice towards the loved ones who suffered from the wrong doings of those who are tried and sentenced to the death penalty.
Warrant- Those families who have been victimized by other family members murdered or raped have peace when they now that person who did it is dead or paying for they did.
Reason 2- The death penalty also shows justice towards society for the wrong doings of the one who was sentenced to the death penalty.
Warrant- Commit the crime do the time.
Reason 3- The death penalty can also be unjust because the one who was sentenced is not the only one who has to go through his death. That person may also have family members and friends and now they have unhappiness and have to suffer.
Warrant- It is not just one family or person that is suffering now it is two. If the person who was sentenced was sentenced for murder then two people will be dead instead of two and both families suffer from loss.
Reason 4- Our civil rights ensure us of no cruel or unusual punishment.
Warrant- Putting someone to death by electrocution hanging lethal injectin is inflicting cruel and unusual punishment. Who is anyone to say that lethal injection does not hurt there will never be any proof because the person who is injected can not tell you if they are dying.
The law saws that murder is murder but is that what the death penalty is, murder?

RJA #10a: Thesis Statement
Research Question:
Why should the death penalty be used what are the pros and the cons of the death penalty? How would the death penalty be unjust to those facing the death row?
Precise claim:
The death penalty gives justice to those who have done wrong, but can viloate their rights and hurt their loved ones which is unjust.
Reasons/Blueprint:
The death penalty keeps offenders off the streets for good and creates more room in the prison systems.
The death penalty can be unjust to the one who was sentenced to the death penalty becuase our eitght adementment right states that we shall not have any cruel or unusual punishment inflicted on us. The death penalty can be a form of cruel and unusual punishment by the forms used to put one to death.

MIDDLE SPOT
http://middlespot.com/search.php
Summary or Description of the Tool
The website middlespot.com is fun and easy to use. This website was created to have easy functions to keep your web searching organized. Middle spot has a search bar where you begin searching. It has options to keep your search to what you are looking for. For example it has options for web, images, news, amazon, and twitter. When typing in your search you would click one of the following to receive the correct information to your related search. When entering your search you can also enter the number of results you would like displayed. When you enter your search your search results display in text on the right, and in portrait or screen shots on the left. This is very useful because when clicking on either the screen shot or the text it will highlight both of the items. For example if you had your mouse on a screen shot it would highlight the text that is related to that screen shot. When using this option you can make the screen shot bigger by using the screen shot zoom tool or your mouse scroll wheel. You can also make your search easier by modifying the number of columns to look through the screen shots.
Strengths
The strengths of Middle Spot is that you can see multiple results of you searches. They are right there for you to see and read not just read. This is a great what to research because sometimes pictures capture your eyes faster then words. This website also allows you to keep track of what you have searched by using a mash tab. This is great so that you do not have to have 5 different websites open that are keeping track of your information. It is right there to save and continue researching. Middle Spot also has a dash board to keep track of the recent searches you have conducted.
Weaknesses
I have not found any weaknesses to Middle Spot in my opinion. I think that this website is really neat and easy to use.
Search engines, directories, and other applications searched
Middle Spot has the option to click on web, images, news, amazon, and twitter. This is a great way to modify your search. Middle Spot is a great way to keep your search organized while saving and sharing information.Operators
Databases
Middle Spot does use google. When doing a search at the bottom of the screen it will show google and other related topics to what you have typed in.
Operators
Like other search engines you can use AND, OR + - to help modify your search.
Case sensitivity
When using Middle Spot I have not found that it reflects anything on the search when using lower cases or upper cases.
Limits
Some limits are that the many results are found. This is a result to having such a large database. Middle Spot uses a huge amount of resources to obtain information for a search.
Advanced search function
Using advanced search functions for Middle Spot would be by using the button for web, image, news, amazon, and twitter. Another way would be to use the google search at the bottom of the page.
Sorting
Has a dash board function to control what sites you have been searching. It also has mash tabs which is used like our delicious account. You can save the websites you want to come back too by using the mash tabs.
Display
The display on this website is great. It is easy to understand. It does not make it difficult to find information or to receive it. If you have a question it can be easily answered because the help button is visible. When researching it is easy to use because of how everything is modified and displayed to see and read the results shown from your search.
Help function
The help function is great for Middle Spot. There is a slide show to explain and demonstrate how everything works and is used on Middle Spot. If you have any questions or are not sure on using a particular item go to the main page of Middle Spot and click on advertise. This link has the answer. You can also read the tutorials which are a link on the same page as the advertise button.
Special features
Has a work pad. This is an option in which it allows you to save and control your results into clusters that are called work pads. Using work pads you can comment on your work to remind you or just note extra information. You can also share your work pads with friends or use them for work. You can email your work pads to anyone. You can also use your work pads from any computer as long as you create or have a Middle Spot account.
There is a little link called tips when you are searching. This tells you small tips to make it easier on using Middle Spot when researching.

RJA #7c: Field Research Plan
For my field research I am planning on doing a survey. I want to conduct a survey of 100 people asking them:
Are you for or agianst the death penalty?
Do you think the death penalty is a reliable way for punishment?
What could be changed about the death penalty?
What crimes committed do you think should get the death penalty?
Is there a difference between life sentence and the death penalty?
In your own words please write why you are for or against the death penalty?
I am planning to do this by the end of October.
I am also thinking about going to a police station to survey cops on their thoughts about the death penalty.
My questions would be
Are you for or agianst the death penalty?
Do you think the death penalty is a reliable way for punishment?
What could be changed about the death penalty?
What crimes committed do you think should get the death penalty?
Is there a difference between life sentence and the death penalty?
In your own words please write why you are for or against the death penalty?
Have you ever seen somebody get executed by the death penalty? Seeing this, did it change your aspect or thoughts on the death penalty?
If I do choose to carry out this survey I also want it completed by the end of October.
In completeing these surveys I hope to gain information on the cops point of veiw against the publics point of veiw on the death penalty.

RJA #7a: Internet Research Tools
I use google, SIRS, EBSCO for most of my research.
The thing I like most about google is that by typing in key words it has several articles or information to choose from. Google also takes key words and uses them as links to broaden your search. www.google.com
I love SIRS. I think that this data base is great. It has so many options to help with research. Newspaper articles, Journals, Magazine Articles, and so much more to gain research. SIRS offers so many choices to pick your research from which is really helpful. www.sirs.com (have to have log in)
EBSCO works a lot like SIRS. I like that it is easy to use and is very helpful when looking for certain topics.
